New method to determine first-order transition points from finite-size data.

چکیده
We consider a temperature driven first-order phase transition describing the coexistence of q ordered low-temperature phases and one disordered high-temperature phase at the infinite volume transition temperature T0. Analysing the exponential corrections to the usual heuristic formula of the periodic partition function in a box of volume V, Zper = ∑ m exp(−βfmV ), where β = 1/kBT and fm is the (metastable) free energy of the phase m, we propose several definitions of a finite volume transition temperature T0(V ) which involve only exponential corrections with respect to T0. We test our propositions in the d = 2 Potts model for q = 5, 8 and 10 by means of Monte Carlo simulations, using the single cluster update procedure. PACS numbers: 05.50. +q, 64.60. Pi, 75.10. متن کاملExtension of Logic regression to Longitudinal data: Transition Logic Regression
Logic regression is a generalized regression and classification method that is able to make Boolean combinations as new predictive variables from the original binary variables. Logic regression was introduced for case control or cohort study with independent observations. Although in various studies, correlated observations occur due to different reasons, logic regression have not been studi...
متن کاملFirst-order phase transition and tricritical scaling behavior of the Blume-Capel model: A Wang-Landau sampling approach.
We investigate the tricritical scaling behavior of the two-dimensional spin-1 Blume-Capel model by using the Wang-Landau method of measuring the joint density of states for lattice sizes up to 48×48 sites. We find that the specific heat deep in the first-order area of the phase diagram exhibits a double-peak structure of the Schottky-like anomaly appearing with the transition peak. The first-or...
متن کاملCrack Analysis, Using a New Coupled FE-EFG Method
To solve crack problems, some coupled methods have been developed in recent years. Most of these methods have some shortcomings such as the need for a transition region. The finite element and enriched element free Galerkin methods are widely used for this class of problems. In order to take the advantages of these methods while avoiding the disadvantages, it is essential to follow solution app...
متن کاملThe Calculation of Critical Parameters in SU(2) Gauge Theory with Kouvel-Fisher Method
We calculate the critical coupling 4/g2 c and critical exponent β for the order parameter in SU(2) lattice gauge theory by applying of the finite size scaling technique and the method proposed by Kouvel and Fisher for analysis of experimental data. In contrast to the standard finite size scaling approach, this method allows to determine simultaneously both g2 c/4 and β as two parameters of the ...
